Microinverter EMC Evidence: A Document Checklist for Importers

Electromagnetic compatibility is not demonstrated by a CE logo or a one-page summary alone. An importer needs evidence that the tested configuration matches the microinverter, cables, communication functions and accessories being placed on the market.

IEC 62920 specifies EMC requirements and test methods for PV power conversion equipment. In the EU, Directive 2014/30/EU provides the legal framework. Responsible operators must determine the exact obligations and standards for their market.

Match the report to the product

Record report number, laboratory, applicant, manufacturer, model list, hardware revision, relevant firmware and test date. Compare these with the label, BOM and sales specification.

Family reports need a rationale for representative models. A lower-power unit does not automatically cover higher variants with different switching hardware or enclosure layouts.

Confirm the tested configuration

Check the PV source arrangement, AC cable, communication mode, grounding method, cable lengths and auxiliary devices used. If the sold kit adds a gateway, meter or long proprietary cable, determine whether it is inside the assessed boundary.

Review emissions and immunity

The evidence index should identify conducted and radiated emissions, immunity tests, performance criteria and operating modes. Ask whether monitoring, output control and charging modes were exercised where they could be worst case.

Review item Hold point
Model identity Offered suffix absent
Laboratory Scope or authenticity unverified
Ports and cables Sold interfaces differ from setup
Operating modes Important mode omitted
Performance criteria Reset or control change unexplained
Modifications Hardware changed after test

Connect the report to risk assessment, controlled design references, component list, label, instructions, declaration and production controls. For OEM projects, add branding and languages before artwork approval. Use the sample evaluation plan to match evidence to hardware.

Require notification before changes to switching devices, filters, PCB layout, enclosure, cables, communication modules or relevant firmware. Compliance leads should decide if review, analysis or retest is needed.

TMG's company page gives engineering context but does not replace market evidence. Send the destination, model list and OEM scope through TMG Contact so the file index can be mapped before purchase.
