Use this engineering checklist before matching a PV module with an APLV or APHV microinverter.

A reliable system starts with an electrical match between the PV module and the inverter input. Rated watts are useful, but voltage and current limits determine whether a combination is suitable.

1. Check open-circuit voltage

The module open-circuit voltage (Voc) must remain within the inverter input limit, including the increase that can occur in cold weather. Use the project site's minimum design temperature rather than the value measured under standard test conditions alone.

2. Check the MPPT operating voltage

The module operating voltage should sit within the inverter's MPPT range during normal operation. A suitable MPPT match lets the inverter track the module's operating point across changing sunlight and temperature.

TMG's current platforms use different input architectures:

  • APLV Series: low-voltage input for hybrid and distributed energy designs
  • APHV Series: 80-230 V high-voltage input architecture for compatible PV modules

3. Check operating and short-circuit current

Compare the module's maximum-power current and short-circuit current with the limit for each inverter input. Do not combine input channels in the calculation unless the selected model and wiring diagram explicitly allow it.

4. Confirm the number of modules per input

Review the intended series or parallel arrangement, connector type and polarity. The same modules can create very different electrical conditions when the wiring layout changes.

5. Review the complete system environment

Electrical compatibility is only one part of the design. Also confirm:

  • Target grid voltage and frequency
  • Cable length and conductor sizing
  • Mounting position and ventilation
  • Expected ambient temperature
  • Earthing and protection requirements
  • Local grid and installation standards

For a compatibility review, provide the PV module datasheet, proposed quantity per inverter, single-line diagram, installation country and intended operating mode. This reduces model-selection delays and makes the quotation more accurate.
